These recordings were made at the end of the 1990s and at the beginning of the 2000s in Southern Siberia among Altai-Telengit, Khakas, Tuva, Tofa, and Western Buryat peoples, who all have their own shamanic folklore. The musicians playing on the record were born before WWII when most of these native peoples were still nomads, that influenced their way of thinking and lifestyle. This music is an impression of a period when the digital culture had not been introduced yet into this region. The chosen ones, among them musicians, learned not through listening to YouTube, but through the teaching of ancestors heard in their dreams or in a hypnotic state of trance.
